History of Pacific Coast Mothers' Club (PCMC):
PCMC was formed in October 1981 by seven mothers who met in a Mommy and Me
class in Huntington Beach, California. Although the mothers had different
interests, careers, and lives, these women had two special things in common.
First, they all had children around one year of age, and secondly, they realized
the value in time spent with their babies. As a result, these women formed
PCMC to satisfy their desire for companionship and support in childrearing as
well as to provide their children with an opportunity to interact with other
children of a similar age.
Twenty-six years later...the club continues to
offer companionship and support for moms who stay at home with their children
full-time as well as mothers who have altered their careers to meet the needs of
their children by working part-time or non-traditional hours. We have
weekly playgroups organized by children's ages that meet anywhere from local
parks, to special field trips, and each others' homes. We have monthly
meetings to allow mom a night out as well as seasonal parties for the entire
family.
An important component of PCMC is the
participation in charitable programs throughout the year to support local moms
and their babies. Such events are as small as a gift basket during the
holidays to planned baby showers for moms who live in shelters.
PCMC welcomes new members to join at any time. We love the
opportunity to get to know new families in our community. Please contact
us for an age appropriate playgroup to attend by checking our playgroup
information page.
