For Parents and Children

Here is a list of web resources collected from PCMC members, respected psychologist and former PCMC member, Dr. Jacqui Lewis, and Sandy Zavrsnick, a parent education instructor who presents throughout Southern California.

For Parents:

Mothers & More http://www.mothersandmore.org This is an international not-for-profit organization supporting women who are at home with their children. For members, there is a national newsletter and publications. Check the website for local chapters. The chapters provide meetings, support, speakers, and more.

Mothers at Home www.familyandhome.org This group advocates for stay-at-home moms. They offer a monthly publication, Welcome Home, as well as free articles on their website. Memberships are available.

At Home Mothers www.athomemothers.com There are several free links to parenting information from this website. This group publishes a quarterly At-Home Mother magazine for its members. Membership is $18.00 a year and provides several benefits.

National Center of Fathering www.fathers.com This group aims to improve the well being of children by equipping men to be more effectively involved in the lives of children. They offer on-line training, tips, and seminars.

The Fathers Network www.fathersnetwork.org Celebrating and supporting fathers and their families with special health care needs and developmental disabilities, this website has free resources.

Parent Soup www.parentsoup.com An award winning site, Parent Soup provides information on activities, crafts, childcare, step parenting, siblings, working moms, and much more. Membership is not required for most resources.

The Baby Center www.babycenter.com You can enroll free for information on pregnancy through toddler hood. Recommended for parents with children 0-2 years, this website has a variety of resources.

Safety and Health:

Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC) www.choc.org CHOC offers many classes and institutes throughout the year on health issues for all members of the family. Articles and other resources are also available. CHOC is concerned with child passenger safety. For free classes on how to properly install your car seat, call (714) 289-4079.

American Academy of Pediatrics www.aap.org The AAP website provides a parenting corner, health topics, bookstore, professional and educational resources, and more.

Consumer Product Safety Commission www.cpsc.gov This site lists product recalls including toys and child items such as furniture. This is a website to bookmark and to check often.

Homework Help:

Homework Spot www.homeworkspot.com This site has K-12 homework resources organized by subject and grade level.

Ask A Question www.ipl.org The Internet Public Library can give you a wealth of information on any subject. You can connect directly with expert information or get e-mail assistance.

Homework Help www.homeowrkhelp.com You must become a member to take full advantage of resources for middle level students and beyond.

The Discovery School http://school.discovery.com/ A great resource if you are home schooling, this site contains hundreds of links that can help with research. Become members and take advantage of the lesson plans and supplemental materials

Encyclopedia Britannica www.britannica.com Complete encyclopedia listings are available. Become a members and access even more information. Free searches area available and provided a wealth of information on any subject.

Ask Dr. Math www.mathforum.com/dr.math Math information is searchable by level and topic. Direct questions can also be answered from students in grades kindergarten to high school.
